FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Welcome to the part where lawyers get answers before they ask three follow-ups.
Think of coaching as a confidential partnership focused on your growth. I don’t give you legal advice or tell you how to manage your clients. I help you build the mindset, skills, and habits that accelerate your career. Strategic thinking, leadership presence, focus, and resilience to name a few. I do this by asking provocative questions, and creating the space for you to have breakthrough insights. The goal is to move you from reacting to leading, and to do it without running on empty.
I work with high-achieving lawyers who want more: more progress, more purpose, more influence, with less running on empty. That includes lawyers in firms, in-house legal departments and government.
Not at all. I coach lawyers at every stage of their career. The only real requirement is wanting to grow. Whether you’re trying to fast-track to partner, step into leadership, or simply regain control of your life, there’s a coaching path for you.
While I offer all three forms of support, each is distinct and we’ll discuss your needs. Mentoring is about someone more experienced sharing what worked for them. Training teaches you fixed content. Coaching is different. It’s about helping you think differently, see patterns, and build skills that stick long after the sessions end. It’s not information transfer; it’s transformation based on your own insights.
Four main options:
1. Weekly Small Group Coaching for practical, real-time growth with peers (more here)(/small-group-coaching).
2. Coaching Intensives for 6-sessions of deep diving into specific challenges (more here)(/coaching-intensives).
3. One-on-One Coaching for ongoing personalized, high-impact development (more here)(/one-on-one-coaching).
4. Team Coaching for law firms or legal departments where I either partner with lawyers individually or as a team (more here)(/team-coaching).
Each program is designed to help you think and lead like a strategic advisor.

That depends on what you choose. Group Coaching runs weekly for one hour each. Coaching Intensives are six focused sessions of one hour over a maximum of 6 months. One-on-One Coaching is flexible and built around your pace and goals but it’s often optimal to meet two times per month for an hour each. As you gain new skills and target new growth heights, the program can evolve around your needs.
Besides the sessions with me, there are sometimes a few short reflection or action exercises between sessions. But coaching isn’t about adding work; it’s about upgrading how you work.
Perfect! Most clients don’t. Our first session clarifies your goals and priorities. We’ll figure out what success actually looks like for you and how to get there faster.
Absolutely. Nothing from our sessions gets shared without your consent. This is a confidential space to think out loud, challenge assumptions, and design your next chapter. I’m used to keeping secrets.
Yes. I work with associates, partners, managing partners, in-house counsel, senior counsel GCs and everything in between. I also partner with HR and professional development leaders who want to grow their people, improve collaboration, and build succession pipelines. I offer tailored team coaching focused on themes like leadership, strategy, resilience, and communication.
Yes, coaching may qualify as professional development or training for lawyers, depending on the law society in the jurisdiction and the content of the coaching. Many firms and legal departments treat it as part of their learning and development budget. I can provide session summaries and outcomes if your organization requires documentation.
While everyone is different, clients often report clearer direction, stronger leadership presence, improved confidence and communication, and measurable progress toward promotions or new roles.

As one client put it best: “it fundamentally changed how I lead and has contributed to my team's fantastic performance.”
For individuals: bring a few key challenges or goals you’d like to work on. For teams: we’ll discuss your objectives ahead of time so the coaching targets real-world results. Everything else, we’ll build together.
You’ll walk away with an action plan, key insights, and the tools to keep progressing on your own. Many clients want even deeper breakthroughs and continue with one-on-one sessions based on a long-term plan to get their dream job. Some join small group cohorts for accountability and fresh perspectives.
Totally fair question. Coaching for lawyers is specialized. It tackles the unique challenges of leading while managing risk, strategy, and people. You’re not paying for chats; you’re investing in faster growth, better decisions, and lasting wellbeing.
My coaching compresses years of trial and error into weeks of progress, built on two decades leading global legal teams. For law firm lawyers, you gain a client’s perspective; for in-house counsel, a partnership with someone who’s been there.
The real question isn’t why coaching costs this much. It’s what staying stuck might be costing you.
Yes! Although many of my clients have legal backgrounds, I have successfully coached numerous clients in a variety of professional areas.
